Espresso As A Start
Not too much to say about this little place. It qualifies as a coffee shop, but just barely. How so? Well, 1) They sell coffee. A lot of it. But, 2) Its mostly just brewed cups, very little espresso drinks. Its a shame, with such a clever name as Espresso Ah La Cart.
I presume the nice older lady behind the cart this morning is the proprietor. Normally, I wouldn’t point out that she’s old, but its pertinent: how do you think she made my mocha chocolaty? That’s right, grandpa’s Rich Chocolate Ovaltine. Nice try, but it doesn’t quite cut the mustard. If you want a brew in the Arcade, this is good. If you want some espresso drinks, go across the street to Scooter’s.
However, speaking of across the street, I found a very nice, quiet, outdoor place to enjoy your cup of coffee from Espresso Ah La Cart (or Scooter’s)– the courtyard of the UMB Bank building at 11th and Walnut. Enjoy!
