JP’s gets JiPped on its Mornings
JP’s Winebar and Coffeehouse is a great little joint, for food, wine, & coffee. Very comfy atmosphere, good coffee, good service, etc, etc. It was about to break into my top 10 coffee shops.![]()
But then they went and shortened their hours. They don’t open till 8AM now, a near-cardinal sin for a coffee shop. They used to open at 6AM, one of the earliest in the area. I suppose we can excuse it a bit in this case since they’re also a fantastic lunch, dinner, and late evening hang-out too.
They say they weren’t getting enough traffic in the AMs to open that early. Personally, I wish they would have switched to 7 or a least 7:30 rather than 8, but so it goes. I suppose with all the competition for coffee spots in the Crossroads, there will continue to be casualties ::sheds a tear for Magazines and Coffee:: I think they may also be trying to brand themselves away from being a coffeehosue and focusing on the winebar part. After all, that part is wildly successful (and for good reasons). The staff did indicate that they may open up before 8AM again at some point, but not yet. And since they’ll have to re-frost the hours on their front glass door, it will probably be at least a while.

Dang. So much for stopping by before work except for a grab and go.
