Accountants hate Tea

Tea Drops, previously of Westport only, has recently made a splash down in Power and Light.  Good for them.  I love their first shop, the only thing that would make it better would be to have as many samples lying around as Teavana does at Oak Park Mall.  They’ve moved into the space in the H&R Block building where a Starbucks used to be.  You know, just 2 blocks away from the quazi-Starbucks in that hotel and just 3 blocks away from the Starbucks with the one great chair.  So, this is a good thing.

Keeping with TeaDrops’ mission, the downtown branch is taking it upon themselves to educate us about a new tea every day.  I encourage you to subscribe to their blog, as it will certainly broaden your caffeinated morning beverage horizons.

Now on with the review and the explanation of the silly title.

H&R Block.  They employ a ton of people, right?  About 2,000.  And Power and Light is such a great and busy place.  And downtown is all revitalizing n shit. So why was I the only one in the shop Wednesday morning?!  I could understand if it were Friday morning (when they don’t open till 11 AM(?!?!).  But this was a Wednesday.  Tax return extensions were being filed upstairs.  Did nobody need tea or coffee?!?  There was only one other lady who came in, and she ordered hot chocolate!  The nerve.  Sure I ordered a double espresso in a tea joint, but at least it had balls, lady.

<ahem>

So, mini-rant aside, the joint is cool.  A couple of comfy chairs, big honkin sugar crystals to put in your bev, patio seating for the nice spring morning, cool jazz, whole fruit, and all the loose leaf tea you could ever want.   Not to mention some awesome sounding and smelling tea blends such as Flu Fighter, Hangover Helper, Men’s Activity (heh), and something else…

Almost forgot to mention: the espresso was good and the service was friendly.  Go there and balance your life, not your balance sheets.

    I’ve tried going a few times, but they are never open when I am downtown. It would be great if they had some evening hours.

    Great review, thanks you! I had no idea they had even opened in power and light. Finally something worth actually going to in P&L …unless there are other cool spots im oblivious of?
